Fluff and Flights of Fancy Is it absurd, "out there", vanishingly unlikely, ridiculous, or logically a bit questionable? Here's where it goes!

My last post in this thread was a shining example of my famously subtle sarcasm Shiningwolf...I felt I should clarify that. A lot of my posts might be like that, I'm sure you noticed the "How to Stop Nukes" thread in Ancients home page. That was a reference to that very thread.

According to the House of Ancients : What is an Ancient?

Spotting an Ancient is easy. Simply look at the prodigies of energy-workers. You know, the one's that don't conform to how it's "supposed to be done." Those that make things go haywire, or everything just seems to 'want' to work for them. They tend to ignore the steps that everyone else seems to need for rituals.

Ancients typically attain Mastery in energy-working at a very young age. They eventually tangle with something extremely dangerous, that no one else can handle, and save the world. They end up retiring because they have no one else to really talk to about their experiences.

It's unfortunate, and unnecessary. They just need a place to go, where they can collaborate with others like themselves.

This is that sanctuary. It is the gathering place where Ancients can discuss, learn and grow. Where they can develop their power, to its full potential, without anyone limiting them.

See, that's just not me--I have to conclude, I don't know what he's REALLY looking at. lol

A) Nothing ever seems to want to work for me, and I learned to use my abilities pretty systematically.

B) I'm not a master energy-worker, and I've been doing this since I was 16. I'm 35 now.

C) I plead the fifth, but I haven't saved the world yet. lol

D) I have no intentions of retiring.

I'm my area "prodigy," which isn't saying much considering I'm being compared to a bunch of newbies who panic all the time and called me every five minutes for help until I left my group (the problems usually being something along the lines of "oh noes, there's a foreign energy in my house" after a year of being trained). *twitch*

I hate ritual... an old teacher of mine used to brag about how he could do all these "miraculous" things after two weeks of incantation. I'd just go home and do it myself incantation-free in twenty minutes or so, but then again, not comparing myself to much.

I guess I got pretty good with energy pretty quickly. I went from "what's an energy ball" to combat to teaching others in a few months.

Even group-less, though, I don't plan on retiring.

Phoenix i refer you to the paragraph above, the House of Ancients definition of an Ancient.

hmm i like how that an ancient tangles with something no one else can handle, yet there are multiple ancients. hmm.

PS: i just barely noticed this huge gap in logic, if ancients master energy working at a "very young age" then how did you figure you were an ancient, arcane. (you said you mastered your abilities at 37) just thought i'd point this out.

I dunno, ancients are supposed to be connected to astral "Avatars" that guide them and give them power. Thats probably what they mean by the whole thing "no-one else can handle" could also be because of their supposedly monsterous power that surpasses hautes and phoenixes.
