Meat and sugar really mess up the body. And detoxing from all the processed food helps a lot too.

I don't see why people hate on meat so much. Our bodies are designed to eat meat as part of our diet. I do however hate when animals are herded in farms; I prefer hunted meat because it allows the animal to live in their natural habitat.

I don't hate meat, it's just that farmed animals are so pumped full of growth hormones is no wonder kids bodies develop faster. If your hunting for your food that awesome. Nothing to taint the meat. I used to eat deer a lot.

When I stopped eating meat and sugar, I lost a lot of weight. When I'd eat meat I'd always get tired and want a nap. Now when I eat, I feel physically more energetic after. This is a choice for me and I'm far healthier since giving them up.

On occasion I have a small bit here and there, and find I really don't miss it.

I don't miss meat at all really. Yeah, I have those moments where I want a cheese burger but remembering all that grease coming off of them turns me away. Most vegan alternatives taste the same.

I continue to feel hungry if I don't get some animal protein every day, and I don't digest large quantities of vegetables well. I am leery of soy milk, and would recommend rice milk or almond milk instead. Rice milk is particularly pleasant, it doesn't have the funky aftertaste soy milk tends to get when it's been open for a couple of days. I can't digest cow's milk, so I've tried a number of substitutes.

Also consider Kefir. (Which I can digest, unlike uncultured milk). Kefir is all sorts of awesome for you.

Hard to get decent protein without meat that isn't high in calories e.g. peanut butter, cheese. Or tastes bad like milk, chia seed, etc. And the body needs some fat.

Meat does make me feel sleepy too. I wonder if it's hormones they feed the animals.

You can get plenty of protein for beans, in true you don't need what they recommend. As you grow older, you get into maintenance mode. I haven't had animal protein in almost a year and my muscle size, strength, and definition have increased.

It's challenging to create complete proteins from plant products alone, and of course, vitamin B-12 only comes from animals and yeasts. This is not to say that factory-farmed meat is good for you, as it really is not. Grass-fed and pastured meats are, however, in the correct amounts.

The only animal product I eat are eggs and those come from my sister-in-laws farm. So I know where they come from and how the chickens are treated. I don't like processed anything. To many useless and dangerous chemicals put into the food. I noticed about a month after I changed my diet. I was becoming less lethargic. The less artificial energy I consumed made a huge difference in my life.
