Honestly depends. I'll gently try to solve the problem and stop the attack. But if he becomes hostile to me, I'll use all of my ability to eliminate threat. Or atleast psionically disarm opponent.

if someone's beating up a little defenseless old lady on a street corner, and you have the ability to stop it, do you?

Why is this a psi-specific concern, an attack is an attack, whether or not its psi or physical.

Suppose the "defenseless old lady" is someone who otherwise is very dangerous?

the premise is defenseless and harmless. Adding other details in alters the answers of course

If psionics can damage, than you can repair with psionics. So, I would probably not intervene an attack with an attack, but simply heal or sheild them afterwards or whatever...unless the person becomes a bitch later on or become a whinny kid constantly asking for help, then they're on their own if it happens again.

If you have the ability to make those kinds of complex repairs, sure. I know of exactly two people capable of repairing the worst damage energy systems can take. Only 2 in over a decade.

There are a few others around who can repair systems that are bad, but not the worst. And a larger number who can heal fairly simple issues.

I suppose, but doing something is better than nothing. Plus, I enjoy a little challange when it comes to healing. However, my experience in 'energy systems' is limited.

a "challenge in healing" remember this is a life we're talking about, not a challenge to test your own skills. If a life is in danger, healing should be left to those that are known to be capable.
