Psychic's used as witnesses?

Do you guys think that credible psychic's should be able to be used as witnesses/evidence in court? Why/why not?

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I personally think not because there are few psychics that are ever right 24/7. Besides, someone could claim to be psychic, and claim that "that_guy_that_pissed_them_off_in_grade_3" murdered that little girl.

are you sure? i was defining psychics as being able to read someones mind, not seeing the future, and if they really pick up "I'm a murderer" floating around in someone's head, i think that should be used as evidence. the problem is proving the psychic to be a credible source in a court of law.

There are a variety of abilities considered "psychic", not just telepathy. Precognition sees the future, and clarvoyence sees the present but not at the current location. THese are just a few examples, to illistrate my point.

Besides, someone running around thinking "I am a murderer" might just be nuts, or really mad, or something, and not really a murder. Remember, there must be SOME physical evidence ;)

Edit: If you really want to see some examples of stuff that's considered "psychic", I'd suggest you browse the site: www.thepsionguild.net :-P

The problem is, psychic perception is usually even less reliable than mundane perception, and that can be pretty unreliable...so, psychic evidence just does not seem like a good idea.

im not voting again, but in a weak attempt to counteract that statement, id just like to mention that every precog vision or message i have ever recieved has been so incredibly correct that its just not funny

That may allow you to foresee a crime, or locate a criminal, or locate physical evidence, but shouldn't be used in court as evidence.

if the psychic can prove his abilities to be accurate, and other evidence supports the psychic, then yes, It should be taken as evidence, but not proof.

I would have to vote no. It's unlikely that the psychic's abilities can be proven beyond all doubt. However if the psychic can find some physical evidence then obviously it should be used.
